More Onda discoveries

Had a great meeting with a member of the Rain family today who helped fill in some more details about Onda’s career. The highlight had to be seeing Onda’s passport from 1897! I also had the pleasure of seeing a lovely silk programme for the Grand Opening of the Empire Palace Theatre in Leeds on Monday 29 August 1898, the Brothers Onda were of course on the bill. A big thank you.

For more details of the Empire Palace Theatre, and the opening night, see Matthew Lloyds fantastic website about British theatres and music halls http://www.arthurlloyd.co.uk

I noticed that Will Onda received a nod from the BFI for exhibiting footage of the Empire Day Celebrations filmed in Preston on May 22 1909. More here… http://www.flickr.com/photos/rpsmithbarney/5987631895/in/pool-preston1800-1970
